Dear Friends in Christ,
Most of you know that I am planning to transfer to the Seminary of the Southwest this Fall. I am so excited to go to this amazing school in my home state. When I visited SSW in the spring, I absolutely fell in love with it. It is my greatest prayer that my time at SSW will not only enrich and grow my own faith, but that it will give me the tools to spread the Gospel of Christ.
My one major goal in life is to let every single person I meet know that they are a beloved child of God. Even you. God loves you. Not in spite of you, but because you're you. Love. Love. Love.
So as I prepare to leave for seminary, I'm calling on you, my friends family and blog readers, to help me out. First and foremost, I need prayer. Lots of it. I honestly believe that our prayers make a difference. I pray for my family and friends daily, and I take great comfort in knowing that I am prayed for.
In this blog plea for help, my first, and greatest, request is for prayer. Secondly, I hope you know how much I value my friends and family. Texts, letters, phone calls, Facebook posts, and even passing memories all sustain me through this journey. I know I cannot do God's work alone, and I thank God daily for the people who support me. I am so grateful for the laughter, hugs, and tears we have and will continue to share.
I ask for your prayers. I ask for your continued friendship.
Of course, there's that other thing that none of us like to talk about--money. Let me say right up front that I am blessed to have a full tuition scholarship to SSW as well as work study and financial support from my sponsoring parish of Emmanuel, Newport as well as from the Diocese of Rhode Island. Those are huge helps which I do not take for granted. Even with that, however, I am searching for ways of paying for books, school supplies, vestments, food, rent, utilities, transportation to field education, health insurance, and other necessary items. I am humbly asking those of you who are able--and I understand that not everyone is--to consider making a donation to help me pay for school. You can donate directly to the school by following this link: www.ssw.edu/seminariansupport
100% of what you donate through this safe, secure server (I can't help myself with the alliteration) will go toward my seminary education. My greatest goal in life is to spread the story of Jesus' love. I want every single human being to know that they are loved and have value. I'm asking you to join me in that ministry.
Thank you all for the love you have shown me. I know Jesus better because I have known you. When I look in your eyes and see the love you have, I see the face of Jesus--the very face of love incarnate. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
In the love of Jesus,
Charles
